At Screaming Cow we respect your privacy. This policy explains what data we process, why, and the rights you have. It follows the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Spanish law.

What we process

• Account: if you register, your email address and an encrypted password.
• Projects and analysis: the URLs you ask us to analyse and the crawl results, tied to your account.
• Guest audits: a URL you enter without an account is crawled and its result kept briefly (about 24 hours) so we can show it to you, then deleted.
• Technical data: we log your IP address temporarily to apply usage limits and protect the service from abuse.
• Usage statistics: we keep a record of the pages served, with the date, the page, the response code, the external page that referred you (if any) and the country our network provider reports. Your IP address is not stored in that record: it is replaced by a pseudonymous identifier derived with a secret key, which allows distinct visitors to be counted without any of them being identified. URL query strings are not stored either. This record is deleted automatically after 90 days.

Purpose and legal basis

We process account and project data to provide the service (performance of a contract), and technical data for the security and operation of the site (legitimate interest). Advertising cookies rely on your consent.

Cookies and advertising

We use our own cookies that are necessary for the site to work (session, language and theme). This site may show ads from Google AdSense, a Google service that uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on prior visits. Google, as a third-party vendor, may process data under its own policies. You can manage your consent through the cookie banner and read more in the Cookie Policy.

Retention

We keep your account data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time, which removes your projects and associated data. Guest audit results are deleted automatically after the period noted above, and the usage statistics record after 90 days.

Your rights

You may exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability by writing to our contact page. You may also complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es).

Changes

We may update this policy. Any change will be posted here with its update date.
